Six appliances
What our technicians fix in Lynnwood homes
Six kinds of machine, all repaired where they stand: in the kitchen, the laundry closet or the garage. Pick yours below for the faults we see most and the checks worth doing before you call.
Refrigerator and Freezer RepairBottom-freezer, French-door, side-by-side, built-in and garage models. A fresh-food side creeping warm, frost on the back panel or a hushed evaporator fan usually leads us to the defrost circuit or a fan motor.Refrigerator repair
Washer RepairTop-load, front-load or stacked in a closet: washers that strand water in the drum, won’t spin up or blink a lock code. We usually end up at the drain pump, door lock, coupler or lid switch.Washer repair
Dryer RepairElectric and gas dryers that turn without heating, want two runs to dry a towel load or shut off halfway. Lint packed into a long vent often blows the thermal fuse, so the vent gets checked as well.Dryer repair
Dishwasher RepairDishwashers that leave a pool in the sump, skip the fill or cloud the glasses. On water this soft, a heavy detergent dose, a clogged filter or a tired drain pump is likelier than scale.Dishwasher repair
Range, Oven and Cooktop RepairGlass-top, induction and gas cooktops, wall ovens and full ranges. We meter the bake element that never reddens, the igniter that glows without lighting the burner, and the control board that forgets its settings.Range or oven repair
Ice Maker RepairYour refrigerator’s built-in ice maker: a bin fused into one lump, a tray that stops cycling or a drip at the dispenser. Usual sources: the inlet valve, a fill tube iced shut, the module that runs the tray.Ice maker repair

Lynnwood appliance repair, from condo closets to Martha Lake garages
Also Everett, Edmonds, Shoreline, Mill Creek and Mountlake Terrace.
Lynnwood’s housing is mixed, and its appliances follow. Roughly two in five homes date from the 1960s and ’70s, so plenty of split-levels off 196th Street SW and 44th Avenue W keep the washer in the garage or a corner of the lower level. Detached houses are the minority here. Apartments and condos crowd the blocks near City Center and the convention center, where a stacked laundry pair shares one closet and the dishwasher sits in a narrow galley. Around Martha Lake, a lot of houses went up after 2000 and carry electronic controls that store fault codes. Electric heat dominates the city, so electric ranges and dryers fill most of our schedule, yet roughly one home in three burns gas, and a gas dryer or cooktop never surprises the technician.
The visit works the same way in all six towns. You phone or send the form, and we return the call with a two-hour slot. Reach us early and a same-day opening is often there, and a warming fridge or freezer goes to the head of the list, since groceries are at stake. Monday through Sunday, our vans leave Lynnwood along I-5 and the old state highway, south through Mountlake Terrace to Shoreline and north into Everett, with Edmonds out west and Mill Creek to the east. On board are igniters, door locks, drain pumps, thermal fuses and inlet valves, the parts we replace week after week, so a good share of jobs close out before the van leaves. Should a part need shipping, the second trip carries no extra charge.
About usWhat it costs
What you pay, settled before any work
01
The diagnostic visit
We quote the fee when we call back. Okay the work and the diagnostic stops being a line of its own inside the written price. Decide against the fix, and that fee alone covers the stop.
02
One written figure
Before a tool comes out you get one price for the repair, covering the part and the work. The warranty length is printed on your invoice.
03
A second machine
If the dishwasher has been acting up too, the technician can check it on the same stop and price it on its own line, so you decide on each.
Stop by stop
Seven stops on a repair run
Each stop is a machine we fix most weeks. Ride the line or tap a stop.

How a repair visit works
Request a visit
Call us, or use the request form: the machine, your ZIP code and what it is up to. Our callback fixes a two-hour slot for the technician. If you have the model number handy, read it out on that call or add it to the form.
Meter diagnosis
The technician starts at the wall outlet, the breaker or the gas shutoff, then tests the suspect parts: resistance across a heater, voltage at a valve, continuity through a switch. Then you get the name of the failed part and the reason, without jargon.
One written price
Before anything is replaced, the technician writes up one price for the whole job, and the diagnostic charge already on your account is credited within that figure. Work begins only on your yes, and nobody minds if you take a minute to think.
Repair, test, warranty
Many fixes come straight off the van’s shelves and finish that visit. Then comes a full test cycle, a wiped-down floor and a warranty set out in writing on your invoice. A part that needs ordering means one more visit, and that return costs you no trip charge.
The stops
Lynnwood and the five towns around it
From Lynnwood the vans fan out along I-5, the old state highway and I-405: south over the King County line to Shoreline, north to Everett, west toward Edmonds and east to Mill Creek.
- LynnwoodHome base. Condos and apartments near City Center, 1960s and ’70s houses off 196th Street SW, and post-2000 houses by Martha Lake.
- Mountlake TerraceSmall post-war houses from the town’s 1949 start, 1970s and ’80s condos, and Town Center mid-rises near 56th Avenue W and Lake Ballinger.
- ShorelinePost-war ramblers in Ridgecrest, Echo Lake and Richmond Highlands, on Seattle’s soft supply, where more than four in ten homes heat with gas.
- EdmondsHillside subdivisions from the 1950s and ’60s around the Bowl, Five Corners and Perrinville; roughly every second home here heats with gas.
- Mill CreekGolf-course streets planned from the mid-1970s and the Thomas Lake area, mostly built after 1980, with gas heat in a majority of homes.
- EverettSouth and central Everett, Holly and Silver Lake to Evergreen Way, where electric heat is the rule and fewer than half the homes stand detached.
Brands we repair
Makes we see on Lynnwood service calls
We work on the makes found in local homes, from Whirlpool, GE and Maytag to Bosch, Miele, Thermador and Speed Queen. Still under warranty? An LG or a Whirlpool-family machine (Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir, Amana) is covered work for us, as an LG and Whirlpool authorized service company; for other makers, look at their coverage first, and we will say so before booking.
Puget Sound homes
Rain, soft water and heat waves: what they do to appliances
Two local quirks shape what breaks. One is water so soft it barely registers: Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Edmonds, Mill Creek and Everett drink Spada Lake water from the Sultan River, roughly 12.5 ppm of hardness, and Shoreline’s Tolt River supply is soft too. Scale seldom causes trouble; surplus detergent does, through suds codes, gummy dispensers and etched glasses. The other quirk is the sky. The Convergence Zone can stall over the King–Snohomish line, so laundry rooms stay damp, door gaskets mildew and long dryer vents through crawlspaces gather condensation. Extremes leave marks too. Unofficial readings hit 109°F in Lynnwood during the June 2021 heat dome, hard on garage refrigerators, and at its peak the November 2024 windstorm darkened more than 70,000 homes and businesses across Snohomish County, after which some control boards and ice makers misbehaved.
Go light on detergent
Soft water makes HE detergent stretch, so a full capful oversuds most loads. The foam slows draining, sets off suds codes and leaves a film in the dispenser. Try half the usual dose and adjust from there.
Wet months, damp laundry
Prop the front-loader’s door and its soap drawer ajar after the last load so the gasket fold dries out. Keep dryer vents short and straight where possible; a long, sagging run under the house traps lint and moisture.
Heat and outages
A garage refrigerator in a hot spell runs nonstop and may still let the freezer soften. During a long outage, unplug the refrigerator and dishwasher or switch their breakers off, and restore them once power has held steady.
The name
Why the company is called Interurban
Our name points back to the Seattle–Everett Interurban, an electric railway whose line into Everett was completed in 1910 and whose cars served these towns until 1939. Each car seated about 40 riders, and the route strung some 30 stops across roughly 29 miles. After the trains quit, power lines took over the corridor, and in the 1990s the Interurban Trail began to follow it for walkers and cyclists. Car 55, which made the final run into Seattle, has been restored and sits in Lynnwood’s Heritage Park. Light rail has run between Lynnwood and Seattle again since 2024. The route already connected these towns; we simply borrowed its name.
Questions
Questions before you book
Will a technician come to a Lynnwood condo or apartment?
Yes, and often. Most Lynnwood households live in something other than a detached house, so many of our calls land in condo buildings and apartment complexes near City Center, along the old state highway and in Alderwood Manor. On the callback, give us the gate or door code, the right entrance and a spot for the van. Renters should ask the property manager before booking, because some leases send appliance work through the landlord.
How fast can someone get here?
Phone early and there is a fair chance of seeing someone that day, Monday through Sunday. A warming refrigerator or freezer jumps ahead of a sluggish dryer, since spoiled groceries cost more than damp towels. Whatever the timing, the callback gives you a two-hour slot instead of a whole day spent waiting by the door.
What is covered by the diagnostic fee?
The drive to your door, the supply checks at the outlet or gas line, meter readings on each suspect part and an everyday-words verdict on the broken one. Approve the repair and that diagnostic charge is credited to its written price, never billed apart from it. Decline, and the visit stops there, the diagnostic being the full amount, written findings in hand.
Which towns besides Lynnwood do you serve?
Everett, Edmonds, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace and Shoreline, plus nearby areas such as Martha Lake, Esperance, Woodway and Mill Creek East. In Everett we concentrate on the south and central neighborhoods. Living near the edge? Enter your ZIP code on the form, and the callback will settle whether we can reach you.
What if the meter points to the compressor or refrigerant?
Then the technician explains what that finding means before anything else happens. A sealed-system fault is a different kind of job from a fan or a defrost heater, so we talk through the age of the refrigerator, what the repair would involve and whether replacing the unit makes more sense. You decide with the facts in hand.
What if the trouble is in my house wiring?
The technician meters the outlet and checks the breaker and incoming voltage before suspecting the appliance at all. When the reading says the house wiring is at fault, you hear that directly, along with a suggestion to bring in an electrician, since it lies outside the machine. With a gas smell the order changes: everyone goes outdoors first, and only after that do you ring 911 or your gas utility.
Should I use the maker’s warranty first?
It depends on the make. LG and Whirlpool-family machines (Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir, Amana) can come straight to us, because both LG and Whirlpool have authorized us to carry out covered repairs. For other makers, contact the maker first, since their coverage may pay for the fix. We remain a local, independent company, and once a warranty runs out, or the fault sits outside it, we are glad to come out.
Start with a diagnostic visit
Every visit opens with the diagnostic, its fee named when you book. Okay the fix and that charge already lives in the written price; leave it and the diagnostic alone closes out the visit.
